Him being awesome, he has decided to take on the entire manufacturing of the blades! They are coming out beautifully, and this project couldn't be coming along any better.<div><br />

</div><div><br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I also dropped by the UBC machine shop and my good friend Erik was able to donate 2 bearing hubs from a used trailer, which we'll be able to use as bearings for both turbines! Thanks Erik for the material and for the laughs!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQUkNks9xAhY-soY2wDLKj2SoVTf3Z9cf-ckOCK_WsdRRk1zdizqR6fUw55a9FHCONBftJcPFqVbalh2sHsScDh6J6xnN-zLDvm29KM74C4pEB9DCKLmjkEiTWesxMQkRpK2Wx0z2g_yNI/s1600/BearingHub.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQUkNks9xAhY-soY2wDLKj2SoVTf3Z9cf-ckOCK_WsdRRk1zdizqR6fUw55a9FHCONBftJcPFqVbalh2sHsScDh6J6xnN-zLDvm29KM74C4pEB9DCKLmjkEiTWesxMQkRpK2Wx0z2g_yNI/s320/BearingHub.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So we're still trying to find a way to get the Vancouver community at large involved, either through donating this project to Scienceworld once its complete, or through some kind of community educational installation. Please help us out with ideas! Anything will be helpful! </div></div>Jeanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15765248095389321988noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-647049058237551816.post-91843144753223037632010-10-24T21:53:00.000-07:002010-10-24T21:53:51.303-07:00Todd came by...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZTPT0B5MdBOM-SS1L032vIO0Cf6FdOBlLbiOUg0m6BnPjoUB2Qa9B0HKaZldHwbAZxug-kAEZ0czSCFiiuosb_ZpAw9HqlFczPNk22RrGhUWpciGPpRfVmfaEq89NUPrNor-ybQH3Fc0K/s1600/IMG_0467.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZTPT0B5MdBOM-SS1L032vIO0Cf6FdOBlLbiOUg0m6BnPjoUB2Qa9B0HKaZldHwbAZxug-kAEZ0czSCFiiuosb_ZpAw9HqlFczPNk22RrGhUWpciGPpRfVmfaEq89NUPrNor-ybQH3Fc0K/s320/IMG_0467.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxrFWoLz6GMQwwQm7kad1FrLKRfveci3bniq1ckMKhyphenhyphenJSJ0LggenQNbzmNPf8WtLBNcilb_fesmRzrstOWmbttn6UHSGP0TlFIyb6omX9-QjdcWmy97AwvRRBrpRB703dtZP3GX2x3kdsD/s1600/IMG_0469.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxrFWoLz6GMQwwQm7kad1FrLKRfveci3bniq1ckMKhyphenhyphenJSJ0LggenQNbzmNPf8WtLBNcilb_fesmRzrstOWmbttn6UHSGP0TlFIyb6omX9-QjdcWmy97AwvRRBrpRB703dtZP3GX2x3kdsD/s320/IMG_0469.jpg" width="213" /></a>Last week, Todd dropped by to give a hand with the blades again. Things are coming awesome as we got the leading edge and one side of each blade cut to shape. Also, as of tonight, my wicked roommate Tom, who's a carpenter by trade, started helping on a smaller version (4 foot diameter as opposed to 8 foot diameter) that we plan on donating to Science World for their renewable energy exhibit. Now if anyone can help with getting this donated and displayed, please contact us!Jeanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15765248095389321988noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-647049058237551816.post-12014516009001556242010-10-24T21:34:00.000-07:002010-10-24T21:36:13.044-07:00The first night!<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigSIdcVbtbSP3qvozYJ_Pm5omZsDmVFiNjSJlIK_uNXG1uQryLoB-8EPLOU-YNFKimZjDCGCutmBzpr_vKvNoxrPkNFgouu8YZowt3vjc47CvqFmpPWU65aZZiks3BUA27uVzyHnG6Qe1z/s1600/IMG_0463.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigSIdcVbtbSP3qvozYJ_Pm5omZsDmVFiNjSJlIK_uNXG1uQryLoB-8EPLOU-YNFKimZjDCGCutmBzpr_vKvNoxrPkNFgouu8YZowt3vjc47CvqFmpPWU65aZZiks3BUA27uVzyHnG6Qe1z/s400/IMG_0463.jpg" width="400" /></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">So 2 weeks ago Todd and Daniel dropped by and helped with beginning to carve the windmill blades. Thanks to their prowess, we got the general outline of 3 blades cut out, and started carving the curved shape into one of the blades. Great work guys!!!</span><br />
